| Explosive is definitely the word that comes to mind when you hear the singer/rapper/songwriter/engineer Coley B’s music. The passion, power and straightforward raunchy lyrics of this hip hop and R&B veteran has captured the attention of audiences for over ten years. Her incredible delivery and stage presence has earned her respect by audiences throughout New York City. Her raw, uncensored lyrics set her far apart from her female peers. “I say all the things women are scared to say and men love to hear”, says Coley B. Hailing from Brookyln, Coley B grew up amongst some of music’s greatest contenders. Coley B began singing at the age of 6 and by the age of 14, she was already writing songs. She first took the stage at age 16 and went on to perform in several open mics around the city. By age 19, Coley B, who was known by her fans as “Tangarae” at the time was performing for sold out crowds, had dropped an album, and was on her way to stardom. Coley B’s continued success lead her to an opportunity to perform for an MTV/LOGO exec who was so impressed with her that years later she invited Coley B to perform for the 2009 Out Music Awards raving that she “…couldn’t forget that swag”. Coley B took the stage in front of the packed to capacity Webster Hall crowd, gave an incredible performance, and left the crowd amazed. Coley B’s outstanding resume includes over 200 songs recorded and numerous collaborations with people like Kel Spencer, ghostwriter for many people like Will Smith and Wyclef Jean; T blaze of the production group “the machine”, and Sky Carter, producer of her first album. Coley B says, “These are people in my neighborhood. They’ve done so many things in the industry. They teach me something new everyday. That’s how I stay on my toes.
